Libre Office/Open Office Best Practices

  • Use JPGs images.  PNGs can create unpredictable results with iBooks.
  • Turn on the ‘Hidden’ characters button to reveal possible formatting issues:

  • Want to see what your book will REALLY look like on the Kindle? Email yourself the same .doc file you plan to upload to KDP.
  • When you are finished editing/formatting – save your ODT first. THEN save the same file as .doc (which is the file you will upload to Amazon/BN).
  • F11 key brings your styles menu up.
  • Get used to using ‘Default Formatting’ (right click) & THEN reapply the style:

I will continue to add more ‘best practices’ and tips here learned and shared by other users.
